instead （副词）代替：取代先前提到的某物；作为替代品或等同物。
从意思上说，在句子中，两者意义相同，只是所在的位置不同。
*instead单独存在时，其前放代替去做的事情，如：

我们以步行代替原先计划的驾车

*instead of 后面通常接被替代的对象（代替的事、人、物在前面，同上）
I will go instead of you.
我代你去。

实际上，"of ..."是对instead的补充说明。
