[Abstract]Pronunciation is a basic in English study, but phonetic symbol is even its basic. Well-knit knowledge of phonetic symbol is a premise to study English words and glossary and one of prerequisites to improve students' comprehensive ability of English study, help them form positive atman notion and foster independent study ability.The paper concludes that weakness on base of phonetic symbol is lots of amateurs' most difficulties in English study based on current study tide and status. And also stress the significance to strengthen the teaching of phonetic symbol and proposes related innovative countermeasure.
